Mediterranean Cruises FAQs

It is easy with the economy at an all time low to forget about taking time to get away from it all. Vacations tend to be the last thing on people's minds when they are worried about finances. But you do not have to forgo a vacation. With careful planning and some tips, you can take a very wonderful vacation. Cruises, especially those that circle the Mediterranean, are a welcome break from the toils of work and everyday stress. If you have never been on a cruise or visited the Mediterranean, you may have some questions about what is covered and what is not covered. In this article we will discuss some of the basic questions you may have about Mediterranean cruises. Who knows? Maybe by the end you will be calling your travel agent.

What ports of call can I visit while taking Mediterranean cruises?

If you choose a Mediterranean cruise that takes you along the coast line of Croatia you will be visiting ports such as Split and Dubrovnik. The same cruise could also place you in Venice where you can tour the fabulous waterways and canals that have made the city famous. If you are more interested in the Greek Islands and want to check out Mediterranean cruises there, you can count on visiting places such as: Athens, Santorini, Kusadasi, Katakolon, and Mykonos. If you are not sure of the ports of call that are available you can usually count on larger cities with airports being ports of call for embarking or disembarking.

Will I need a passport in order to take Mediterranean cruises?

Anytime you travel out of your home country, you need a passport. This is especially true of Mediterranean cruises. You will be visiting many different areas and your passport will be checked and stamped. Plus if you are flying in from the United States, you will need a passport anyway to leave the country. Security is very important to all countries these days so a proper passport is always needed. Just remember that if you do not have a passport, you will need to apply for one several months in advance of your trip. You can rush the process but you are going to be paying more for the passport.

How long will a Mediterranean cruise last?

The length of your Mediterranean cruise is up to you. You can go for as little as 3 nights or you can stay up to 12-15 nights depending on the cruise. Generally the more places you want to visit, the longer your cruise needs to last. Also remember that the longer the stay, the more it is going to cost. If you have never been to the Mediterranean before, you may want to spend that extra money on a longer voyage. If you have visited several times, a shorter trip may work for you.

Where can I find great deals on Mediterranean cruises?

Sometimes the best deals will come from your local travel agent. If you do not want to go through a travel agent, there are many discount websites that can help you find a great deal on Mediterranean cruises. You should definitely check out www.priceline.com and www.expedia.com to see what kind of deals you can get. Just remember to book as far in advance as possible so you can get the best deals.
